Pre-engineered steel systems in the 21st century are used for restaurants, clothing stores, truck terminals, sports venues, hangars, small or large auto garages and numerous other uses. Pre-engineered and pre-fabricated commercial steel buildings are produced at a factory. A total kit is shipped that is pre-welded, pre-punched, and pre-drilled by the manufacturing factory to the construction site by way of tractor trailers, often by factory-employed drivers. The third style is steel arch framework systems. These buildings are constructed of arched steel panes and they are the simplest to build of all three categories. Steel arch configurations can be utilized for ranching and farming or manufacturing applications. They are completely made of steel and the building shape is that of an arch, which functions as both the wall and the roof. It is a good selection for amateurs with no special training that want to assemble the building themselves.

Selecting any of these three types of steel building will produce a less expensive and more durable structure than more conventional building styles.
