STEEL BUILDING NOW - Full Article
Commercial Pre-Engineered and Pre-Fabricated Steel Buildings

Today’s commercial steel structures are engineered to conform to basically any possible configuration. Pre-engineered steel systems in the 21st century are used for restaurants, clothing stores, truck terminals, sports venues, hangars, small or large auto garages and numerous other uses. Steel building systems can be designed and outfitted into countless dimensions and configurations. They are favored as the construction material ideal for housing, commercial and business enterprises, as well as manufacturing facilities.

Pre-engineered and pre-fabricated commercial steel buildings are produced at a factory. A total kit is shipped that is pre-welded, pre-punched, and pre-drilled by the manufacturing factory to the construction site by way of tractor trailers, often by factory-employed drivers. If greater square footage is necessary, an all-steel building can easily be expanded.

Pre-fabricated steel structures can also be erected as “wide-span” structures, meaning that interior support columns are not needed, thus maximizing the useable internal square footage. This is a key feature for applications such as gymnasiums or airplane hangars. Your building project can experience more rapid assembly, more efficient construction, and a reduction in labor costs if you choose a steel building.

The commercial and business communities have been convinced of the merits of steel building construction thanks to well-defined budget forecasts, the nominal maintenance required, and the strength of premium grade steel.

There are fundamentally three categories of business all-steel structures. Steel framed means that the structural framework is made of high-grade steel. The exteriors of these structures can be outfitted with facades like brick, rock, or stucco. This construction style is prevalent in insurance agencies, homes, and similar smaller structures.

Another configuration is the steel pole structure system, which uses steel poles rather than trusses and posts of cement or wood. The walls and roof are then sheathed in steel. Popularly used as agricultural buildings, these buildings are also called pole barns.

The third style is steel arch framework systems. These buildings are constructed of arched steel panes and they are the simplest to build of all three categories. Steel arch configurations can be utilized for ranching and farming or manufacturing applications. They are completely made of steel and the building shape is that of an arch, which functions as both the wall and the roof. It is a good selection for amateurs with no special training that want to assemble the building themselves.

Selecting any of these three types of steel building will produce a less expensive and more durable structure than more conventional building styles.
